Nintendo Game Boy Light Clear Skeleton Famitsu Mail Order

One of the most coveted Game Boy versions is the Game Boy Light Clear Skeleton Famitsu “Event” version. It came in a cardboard-backed blister pack of sorts with a buxom red-headed female astronaut on the front. Only 5,000 were made. However, there was a mail-order version as well in a plain black box with little frills. Both systems are identical, but it is unknown how many of the mail-ins there were versus the “Event” versions.

  1. I’m pretty sure Nintendo didn’t start shrink wrapping their boxed Game Boy’s until the next box revision. It may have been shrink wrapped by the retailer (as Babbage’s has done for years) or perhaps the seller.
