Final Fantasy Orb 1990 Contest Prize

FINAL FANTASY ORB 1/50 1990 Nintendo Power Contest Prize (Link Removed Auction Ended)

This contest was run for the original Final Fantasy RPG designed by Hironobu Sakaguchi of Square for the Nintendo NES. Only 50 Final Fantasy crystal orbs were made and distributed worldwide. It is made of solid lead crystal. The crystal orb is etched with the legend ‘Final Fantasy’; a shield with a crossed axe and sword are etched above. This can be viewed when looking through the crystal orb. The orb has been signed by the artist, Kusak.
Included with the Final Fantasy crystal orb are: 1990 Sept/Oct Nintendo Power Magazine issue 16 which features contest and Final Fantasy crystal orb prize, original box and packaging, and certificates which came with Final Fantasy crystal orb. All are in excellent condition. The orb itself is in perfect condition; no visible scratches, nicks, cracks or signs of wear.

Seller is asking an INSANE amount, but he’s probably just hoping to attract more attention to entertain offers.

Hell of a collection piece though.

Other stuff:
NINTENDO NES CONTROL DECK TEST CARTRIDGE 1985 – repro?
Star Wars Prototype Nintendo Racer Mock Display
Bubsy II SEGA Genesis PROTOTYPE

  1. Any NES collectors confirm that there’s at least one of these in collectors hands already? I’m pretty sure there is, but can’t remember who, or where.

No comment on the 250k price, nor the 1mil BIN.

  2. I was just talking about this ‘Orb’ to someone like two weeks ago saying how I keep hoping one would come up for auction. Weird!

  3. Ah there you go. I knew someone had one, must have seen something on NA or DP. Was it something you tracked down or did it go for open sale? (if you don’t mind me asking)

You should list yours concurrently at 100k, 250k bin. That would be funny.

CHEAPEST FINAL FANTASY ORB ON EBAY!

  4. I also own one of these beauties and it’s my version that was featured on ratemyrare back when that website was functional. I purchased mine via a private auction off ebay for a price far far far south of the current one.
