Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was a huge game for Bioware. It’s gameplay mechanics continued on to games like Mass Effect which is also another Bioware title. They changed the way how we play role playing games here in the States. When Star Wars: The Old Republic was first announced on October of 2008 for the PC as the next evolution of MMO gaming. Since then, hundreds of thousands of people have already pre-ordered the game and in fact, EA announced on July of this year that the game broke the company’s record of the highest number of pre-orders in their history at a whopping 200,000 in the 6 days since pre-orders for the game began. Who knows how much they have now.. It ranked #1 on Best Buy’s webstore and the game hasn’t even come out yet!
So as you know, with a new Bioware title comes a Collector’s Edition. The Collector’s Edition, which retails at about $150, has been sold out since and I haven’t really seen it go back up for sale at Amazon.com. There’s a few listed for over $300 now though. Amazon isn’t very keen into having someone else doing pre-orders on their site so these listings might get pulled (I tried that with Mass Effect 2 CE and it was pulled the day after). If you look hard enough, it’s still available at some e-tailers but I wonder for how long. The Collector’s Edition is already selling for $250-$270 as a pre-order on eBay. This edition will probably one of the most sought after games for the holiday season this year.
