The Best Video Games Based on TV Shows

There probably isn’t a home you can enter today that doesn’t have one or more family members immersed in a video game, but did you know that many of the favorites are based on television shows? Some are based on cartoon and others are based on shows that star real actors and not simply voice-overs. In any case, here are a list of the best video games based on TV shows. If you are a gamer, you’ll recognize most if not all of them, if not, why don’t you give some of them a try? They’re loads of fun!

The Adventures of Batman and Robin

There isn’t a cosplay convention anywhere on earth that doesn’t have at least 30 Batmen running around the assembly. This indicates just how popular this bat-hero is and if game sales are any indication, he is going to be a superhero until the end of time. First aired on network television, Batman has undergone several incarnations through major motion films and now as a superhero of gamers, he’s made the rounds.

South Park: The Stick of Truth

Based on another cable/satellite network like DISH, South Park: The Stick of Truth is a game centering on the well-loved but often caustic figures from the South Park cartoon. Based on ever-popular role playing games, gamers can now play out their favorite characters from their favorite cartoon. It’s one of the best sellers for kids of grown ages.

Beavis and Butthead

What would a video game be for this generation if it wasn’t based on the ever popular MTV music television channel? There was a time in the early days when it was all about music vids but as time went on, the station began with talk shows and then progressed to comedies. Beavis and Butthead is the most famous of all shows emanating from HBO and perhaps why this game has such a huge following.

Star Trek Voyager – Elite Force

There is such a huge cult following that it is only logical the Trekkies have a game to call their own. Star Trek Voyager is based on the Star Trek Voyager crew, as if you couldn’t have guessed, and is enjoyed by Trekkies and non-Trekkies alike. Although it is a favorite, critics believe the graphics are not up to earlier games in the series, but the ‘storyline’ is compelling so it remains a bestseller.

The Walking Dead

Talk about a huge success, both the show and the game are topping charts. In similar fashion to today’s popular games, there are different outcomes based on the routes players choose to follow. If you are one of the hundreds of millions of worldwide fans, this 2012 entrance into the world of gaming is a must play. Don’t worry though, the ghouls can’t exit the screen to turn you into a vampire, so you’ll live even if not on screen!

So then, these are current favorites that top the charts for gamers young and old. Odd how most games these days focus on grown kids but that’s what sells, so that’s what they design. In fact, there are literally dozens of other games based on TV shows, these just happen to be the hottest.
