This prototype figure was shown off in the Toy Fair in 2000, along with several other Nintendo prototype figures in the Nintendo line, like a Metal Mario, a Fox McCloud from Starfox, and Donkey Kong 64 figures. Toysite was responsible for several of the later BD&A Mario plushes that did release in 1999. This figure line was canceled when Toysite was shut down (BD&A no longer funded the branch), and the prototypes were sold on ebay in 2001.
It is a very fragile figure, as it was not meant to be handled or really even produced, so you’ll notice it has cheaper paints on it and some of the design had yet to be finalized, like the backpack. This is for display only and not for handling. The feature this figure was to have was a push button on the backpack that flapped Kaoozie’s wings. It still works on this figure.
