Bill’s Tomato Game Unreleased Sega Megadrive Prototype

This is an unreleased title for the SEGA Mega Drive. The cartridge isn’t a usual Megadrive prototype, it’s a flash cart. These were made by Psygnosis later in the development cycle, around 1994 and on. The game (which was released on Atari ST and Amiga) requires the player to guide Terry the tomato up the vine of Sammy Squirrel and rescue his girlfriend Tracey from the squirrel’s villainous clutches. The vine consists of 10 worlds of 10 levels each. All consist of numerous obstacles he has to overcome using the help of various items (e.g. fans or trampolines). According to the seller, it was being worked on in 1993 but when the company was purchased by Sony, all development on Mega Drive Titles were stopped to focus on the Playstation 1.

Back in 2009, this (assuming it is the same one) sold on eBay for 910 GBP or about $1547 at the time. As far as I know, it has remained undumped.

This would make great reproduction fodder, so it will be interesting to watch.
