Christmas Contest Winners

Alright, well it’s definitely around time to get the prizes for the contests clued up. All in all, I think the contest went over well. I thank each and every one of you for participating, as well as everyone for following the progress.

I do apologize to everyone for my disappearing act, which definitely put a damper (as well as a massive delay) into the contest. I believe Nicola and myself learned quite a bit about running a large contest, and will be keeping it in mind in the future.

We do have a big addition to the site in the works, and will most likely be running another contest when that time comes. Stay tuned! 2008 has a lot of neat surprises in store for gameSniped.

Day 1: On the first day we had a very simple way to win. The 25th person to post the correct answer to the question “When was gameSniped first launched?” within the comments won. We also opted to give a random user a prize as well. Retrogamer72 won the entry with porschepunk winning the random drawing. Both readers won an Extreme Flash Advance 256Mbit LC, GBA flash cartridge from TotalGBA.com.

Day 2: On the second day we gave away a copy of Video Game Collector #8 and VGC #1/2 from Video Game Collector Magazine. As well as the winners choice of a Video Game Sprite T-Shirt and Mousepad from eBay seller RetroRalphs.

Once again we also gave away bonus random prize of an Extreme Flash Advance 256Mbit LC, GBA flash cartridges from TotalGBA.com

The main prize went to colorninja, with the random drawing being awarded to Chaos89-Dot-Com.

To win the main prize this day was simple, but brutal. Last one to post wins. Before the day was said and done we had a whopping 1200 comments. Being the horrible person I am, I dropped in several times during the day to let people know I was around, but then left again. I’m sure I must have caused several mini coronaries. The thread was like a running chat room at times, and convinced us that we definitely need a forum in the future.

Nicola also opted to give out some random prizes to the participants. Limbofunk earned a sealed Sonic R on a side contest, but wanted to donate it to ProtonX. instead, Nicola opted instead to give each of them one!

98pacecar even won a sealed Fighting Vipers on another side contest which nobody even noticed for some time. Nicola is sneaky like that.

Day 3: Day three involved solving a riddle which referenced a specific auction involving a Game Boy lot. I thought it was solvable no problem without any hints, but no I’m not so sure it retrospect. Anyway, jason_971 managed to win himself A copy of Video Game Collector #8 and VGC #1/2 from Video Game Collector Magazine. His choice of a Video Game Sprite T-Shirt and Mousepad from eBay seller RetroRalphs, a Bubble Bobble 2 Gameboy Proto from eBay seller sama$$aran and an Earthworm Jim Action Figure (exclusive mail-away offer in the mid-90’s) from the Goat Store.  A bonus prize of yet another GBA Flashcart went to bonus prize of the GBA Flash Cart goes to Mr. Kelly R. Flewin of Twin Galaxies fame.

Day 4: Ok, I admit this one was a toughie. If you were a PS1 collector, then your chances were much higher. However, I did restrict the games to the first few letters of the alphabet in case someone caught onto that and wanted to look up covers until they solved it. Apparently the final one was the hardest, as on smaller or low resolution monitors it seems to be little more than a swatch of brown.

Lyndis managed to pull it out however, and walked away with a copy of Video Game Collector #8 and VGC #1/2 from Video Game Collector Magazine.  His  choice of a Video Game Sprite T-Shirt and Mousepad from eBay seller RetroRalphs, a Super Nintendo Super 8 from myself and a Sega Saturn Modchip from Robb Webb’s online store.

The bonus random prize of an Extreme Flash Advance 256Mbit LC, GBA flash cartridges from TotalGBA.com went to user Speed.

Day 5: This day was much similar to the previous, but featured NES Accessories and even smaller pics. ProtonX proved his superior NES knowledge and won a copy of Video Game Collector #8 and VGC #1/2 from Video Game Collector Magazine, his choice of a Video Game Sprite T-Shirt and Mousepad from eBay seller RetroRalphs, a NES game of your choice from GAMEREPRODUCTIONS.COM, two NES or SNES USB RetroPorts from RetroUSB.com (Winner’s Choice) and finally a Sega Saturn Modchip from Robb Webb’s online store.

Once again a bonus random prize of an Extreme Flash Advance 256Mbit LC, GBA flash cartridges from TotalGBA.com was given out, this time to NationalgameDepot.

Grand Prize: The grand prize was user submitted and user voted. You needed to find and submit a gameSniped worthy auction. Ten were chosen, one came out on top. jcalder8 came out from behind in the last day with his Rare Gameboy Auction and surpassed skcin7 and his Jack Thompson GTA Auction.
