PAL Nintendo NES M82 Game Selectable Product Display – (Thanks Steve!)

This is an extremely rare collectors item. The Nintendo M82 is a demonstration unit for the Nintendo Entertainment System to allow customers to try games in-store before purchasing them. The full title on the machine was the M82 Game Selectable Working Product Display.

The M82 can hold up to 12 games, which are visible through the front panel windows and are numbered 1 – 12. The games are selected by pressing a red button on the front of the unit. Up to two controllers and one NES Zapper can be connected and are held on small shelves on the lower front of the unit. The play time could be set by the store via a knob on the back of the unit; this could be 30 seconds, 3 minutes, 6 minutes, 128 minutes or unlimited.

The unit connects to a TV through a standard RF cable (may be able to include one, i’ll see if i can dig out a spare). The power lead is connected to the unit.

This unit doesnt come with any games loaded into it, and the zapper gun is damaged and will need replacing. This is a simple task, as removing the casing of the unit allows easy access to controller ports and cartridge slots, and it is simply a case of plugging in new controllers/zappers and any games you like.

I’ve tested this unit with my own games, it has always worked perfectly for me. Cosmetically the unit has some slight wear, this is to be expected for a machine of this age, though it is working perfectly and while in my possesion it has remained in the same condition I recieved it in.

Once again, this unit is EXTREMELY RARE, most M82 units were returned to be destroyed when shops stopped selling NES games, and this would be a major talking point of anybodies Nintendo / Classic Computer collection.
