Mario Bros. Movie Walkie Talkies

I don’t think we’ve seen a lot of post regarding the Mario Bros. movie. There’s a good reason for that though.. I’m not sure how extensive the merchandise was to support the movie but there are very few of them that pops up on eBay every now and then. Last year, I posted the Goomba Bust mask I found by accident while doing some research (the actual mask is owned by our own Nicola – see the comments on that post) which was listed by it’s creator Vince Niebla.

And once again I found these by accident. These Mario Bros. movie walkie talkies are probably the first one in many years for sale on ebay. It’s nice that it has the original box at least. Created in 1993 by a company called Ertl out of Dyersville, Iowa. It is boxed and the seller stated that it is in good condition. Ertl also made action figures for the movie and a few of them listed new on ebay.

On a related note, Bob Hoskins, the guy who played Mario in the movie, had this to say in interview by the Guardian (published yesterday)

What is the worst job you’ve done?
Super Mario Brothers.

What has been your biggest disappointment?
Super Mario Brothers.

If you could edit your past, what would you change?
I wouldn’t do Super Mario Brothers.
