If you’re an RTS fan, or were a PC gamer during the 90’s (or earlier), than you’ve probably played a Westwood game. The makers of Command & Conquer launched in 1985 as Westwood Associates, was renamed to Westwood Studios when it merged with Virgin Interactive in 1992, then was bought by Electronic Arts (EA) in 1998 and finally closed by EA in 2003.
The company is very fond to my heart, as the original C&C was a defining game in my childhood. Still have my original copy too!
Looks like one of the original founders, Louis Castle, rescued a ton of old Westwood gear and games when he went on to join Instant Action / Garage Games as CEO. Boatloads of vintage sealed games and crazy costumes from a lot of the live action sequences the company was famous for.

Lets see if we can find some good Westwood themed stuff to do with this post. Nothing crazy rare, but lots of sealed stuff and expensive complete PC games.
Available here is a beautiful wooden shield inspired by the “GDI” symbol seen in the Command & Conquer series of computer games. But whether you’re a big C&C fan or not, this shield has a regal beauty that would look fantastic hanging on your office wall or over a fireplace. The shield has been completely handpainted and sealed with a protective clear gloss enamel to protect it through the centuries.
The shield is made out of a 1/2″ thick smooth composite wood (which is considerably stronger than plywood). Dual leather straps are used to comfortably secure the arm along the back. The shield has also been applied with several coats of varnish to further protect and preserve it from wear. It measures about 25 inches in diameter.

This amazing one-of-a-kind Shield was inspired by the Command & Conquer games’ Brotherhood of NOD. It features a scorpion tail symbol handpainted over a bright red background. The shield also has very subtle airbrushed white highlights that make the symbol appear to be made of metal. The picture shown is of the actual shield. You can’t buy an item like this anywhere!
