Ive been compiling some sales data this year mainly for my own use and for reference with gameSniped.
Here is some fun facts for May.
There were total NES sales of $175,620.00. This was through 48,759 listings, of which 16,558 or 33.96% were successful. The average selling price was $9.81 with an average shipping of $4.20.
This math is not prefect as dutch auctions or multiple available bins count as one individual listings.
This is for game sales only. Efforts were made to exclude lots, hardware and other items. Again, this is not perfect, but the data here should provide a good generalized picture.
Apparently, the best time to end an auction is on Saturday, which has a 36.54% success rate. To get the most money for your NES games, auctions should end on Monday or Wednesday, both which have an average of $11.20 as a final price.
The top NES seller sold $11,430 worth of goods.
The Top NES auction was a Chuck Yeager Fighter Combat Prototype at $2,626.76. The usual (lately) glut of Stadium Events are shown pretty heavily from there on, but there were nice test carts, sealed games and more.
There were total Playstation 1 sales of $119,614. This was through 23,786 listings, of which 7,167 or 31.13% were successful. The average selling price was $14.57 with an average shipping of $4.59.
There were total SNES sales of $168,447. This was through 30,118 listings, of which 11,806 or 39.20% were successful. The average selling price was $12.65 with an average shipping of $4.54.
There were total N64 sales of $107,724. This was through 26,690, of which 9,444 or 35.38% were successful. The average selling price was $9.73 with an average shipping of $4.10.
There were total Atari 2600 sales of $38,212. This was through 6,629 listings, of which 2,283 or 34.44% were successful. The average selling price was $14.47 with an average shipping of $4.74.
This data not prefect as there are some hardware and other listings which do skew the data, but it is an interesting read and the most expensive auctions usually teach me a thing or two about where prices are headed. Like the fact a complete NES Contra Force hit $160 and that SNES Earthbound can easily fetch an easy $100 for a cart only these days.
