Plants VS Zombies

plants vs zombies logo This is not a normal post, but I wanted to recommend one of the most
original and enjoyable games I’ve played in a long time. Ever since I
saw the promo video below, I’ve wanted to play this game.

It was released earlier this month and I’ve been playing it off and on since.
At its core, it’s a tower defense game, where you place down different
types of plants, each with their own strengths, weaknesses, attacks
and defense. You battle across your front lawn, back lawn, and even the roof in order to stop a horde of zombies from devouring your
brain.

The zombies also come in a ton of different varieties, from ones with
a bucket on their head to others driving a Zomboni (Zamboni).
As you play you unlock more plants, as well as extra modes and
minigames. The minigames are hilarious and include zombie themed
versions of PopCap games Bejewelled and Insaniquarium.  The version
available through Steam even has achievements.

plants vs zombies screen shot I normally hate numerical reviews, as I just want to know if something
is enjoyable, but for reference, on TestFreaks (a site which analyses
most reviews) Plants vs. Zombies has scored 8.5 out of 10.
They also have links to tons of other reviews from mainstream sites, but the consensus is the same – the game is good.

Basically, it’s a fun casual game that’s very addictive.

I’ve even got my wife obsessed with it, and she’s the textbook "casual
girl" gamer. Aside from Puzzle Titles, gimicky Wii games or the Sims
she doesn’t have much interest in gaming. It’s that good.
I’m not the only one who feels this way either, it’s currently number
three on the Steam charts.
