Strategy Games

Bigfish games publishes a ton of great Strategy Games

They releases the most downloadable games on the internet for PC and Mac (A New Game Every Day!).

Some of the great games I’ve tried out include Build-a-Lot, Be Rich, and Virtual Villagers.

Build-A-Lot is a real estate game where you buy an empty lot and then must buy or draft the blueprint for the type of house or commercial building you want to build. Then you have to hire the amount of workers to build the house or building, and then purchase the building materials. Once a house is completed you have the option to upgrade the house or sell it. Each level of the game has different requirements you need to complete. Some levels require you to build a saw mill, bank, or fire department where others require you to acquire a certain amount of money or rental income. It is a great learning game that helps build math skills and teaches children some of the basic steps involved in real estate in a way that captures their imagination and is fun.

Be Rich is very similar but offers several twists. For example, each type of house has a different number of tenants in it, which comes into play for level goals where you have to, for example, build a Cinema with a certain number of attendees, or achieve a certain overall town population.

Virtual Villagers reminds me al ot of the old PC game Baldies.

These poor villagers washed up on shore after surviving a horrific volcanic eruption. You have to guide them in learning how to survive in this real-time simulation game. They learn by doing, but you might have to keep an eye on them to make sure they don’t give up too easily. They need to become farmers, builders, scientists, parents and more in order to thrive on this new island. How will you lead your tribe?

Basically, you have to guide these little guys and make sure they don’t do anything stupid and manage to prosper.

If you’re bored and need to find a few good PC games, check out the site.
