Bayer’s Didget for Nintendo DS

“What?! Another game that requires a peripheral? “Well, i’ve gotten alot of use out of that trance vibrator at least.” That’s probably what some of you are saying right now. And no, this isn’t a toilet seat with a built in ass wash either. In fact, it’s an actual product.

Have you ever wondered what your glucose levels are? If you have a Nintendo DS or a DS Lite (sorry folks, no love for your DSi and DSiXL) you can. The DIDGET is the only blood glucose meter that plugs into a Nintendo DS or a DS Lite. This little device is supposed to help kids and adults monitor their sugar levels. It also gives gamers testers reward points to be used to buy items & unlock levels within the game. You can also use Bayer’s Contour test strips (its another one of their systems). The games included are Knock ‘Em Downs World’s Fair video game and Mini Game Arcade that comes in a cartridge.

Here’s what you get inside the box:

  • Bayer’s DIDGETâ„¢ Blood Glucose Meter
  • Protective cover for meter
  • 25 CONTOUR® Test Strips
  • CONTOUR® Normal Control Solution
  • Bayer’s MICROLET® 2 Lancing Device, Adjustable Endcap, 25 Lancets
  • Knock ‘Em Downsâ„¢: World’s Fair Nintendo DSâ„¢ Game Card
  • Game Instruction Booklet
  • Carrying Case
  • USB Mini Cable
  • Meter Quick Reference Guide
  • Meter User Guide
  • Record Diary

The GBA port does wonders for the DS. The DS has had alot of games that uses the port for a external controller like Guitar Hero & Band Hero, that awesome Arkanoid controller (which can also be used to play Mario Kart) and the newly released Easy Piano DS. It’s a shame that the newer DS models do not support them. But its ok.. that could help for rarity purposes later on..

The Didget is only available to residents in the UK, Wales, Ireland, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. According to the website, the FDA has cleared the product for U.S. release back in December. Who knows when it’ll actually be available though. For those who can’t wait, you can get one for £29.99 ($46.46) at their webstore. If you want to learn more about the Didget, head over to the UK website and play around with the demo.

I could just imagine one of my friends saying “I see you started collecting Diabetes testers..” 🙂
