Vintage 1st Generation Shockwave Action Figures: More than Meets the Eye!

TRANSFORM AND ROLL OUT! Hey, guys and gals. It’s time for your next dose of collecting goodness. This update comes courtesy of Transformers and a character introduced in the very beginning of the canon. We’re talking about Shockwave, the Decepticons’ military operations commander. This position makes Shockwave the Decepticons’ ‘baddy number 2’. According to the original Transformers writer,  Bob Budiansky, Shockwave’s inspiration came from the original Star Trek character, Spock. Wikipedia describes Shockwave as thus:

“Shockwave is the name of several transformers in the Transformers franchise. Throughout his incarnations, he is usually distinguished by a laser cannon instead of one of his hands and his distinctive face, which is featureless save for a single robotic eye. He is also commonly portrayed as a cold, emotionless Decepticon. Due to issues with Hasbro’s trademark of the name Shockwave, some products were also released under the name Shockblast.”

At this point, the vintage 1st generation Shockwave action figures have attained a well deserved collectors status. And why shouldn’t they? The figure looks absolutely amazing.
